Captain Christopher Pike
2219 - 2320

U.S.S. Christopher Pike (NCC-1844-B)

Luna-Class at Warp

Part of the second run of Luna Class vessels produced when President Bacco refocused Starfleet towards exploration, the Christopher Pike-B was launched in 2383 under the command of Captain T'Sai. Originally assigned to the Gamma Quadrant to explore uncharted regions, the Christopher Pike returned to Mars in 2386 for major repairs after an encounter when a horde of subspace creatures ruptured the Warp Core and caused substantial damage to the space-frame.

Although much of the crew were transferred elsewhere during this period, the Commanding Officer and many of the Senior Staff remained. With their exploration put on hold, the crew of the Christopher Pike were assigned a crew of cadets and trainees who utilised the areas of the ship that weren't under construction for training and simulations.

With repairs completed in early 2387 the crew set course for the Expanse. Upon arrival they joined the rosters of Task Force 92 and were to begin investigating some of the as yet unexplored areas of the region (KS20: Piazzi's Penance). Having remained at Kepler Station longer than expected, to provide assistance following the devastating asteroid strike, the crew of the Christopher Pike found themselves essentially twiddling their thumbs until an assignment came along that was perfectly suited to them; Escorting the highly advanced Sassobaun Consociation to the Rho Geminorum system and monitor their progress in establishing a new colony (KS21: The Scopes of Justice or Fine Jung Cannibal).

History

U.S.S. Christopher Pike (NCC-1844)

Enterprise-Class

With an illustrious career as Commanding Officer of the U.S.S. Enterprise for thirteen years, Christopher Pike returned to the planet Talos IV where he lived out the remainder of his days free of the debilitating injuries suffered during his heroic rescue of cadets exposed to delta-particle radiation when a baffle plate ruptured.

The Constitution Refit Class vessel bearing his name was launched in 2280, some months after the first of the Subclass; the Enterprise-A.

Perhaps the highlight of the Christopher Pike's years in service was in 2285 when the vessel was the Flagship of an Armada under the command of Captain Lawrence Styles. The Captain had managed to escape from the U.S.S. Excelsior, thanks to the help of Captain James T. Kirk, which had been taken over by the crew of the I.K.S. Enterprise after they had crossed over from the Mirror Universe.

The Christopher Pike suffered heavy damages during a boarder skirmish with the Klingon Empire in the early 2300's and it was decided to have the vessel decommissioned rather than repaired or refitted. After limping back to the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards a team from the SCE began deconstruction.

U.S.S. Christopher Pike (NCC-1844-A)

New Orleans-Class

Much smaller than her predecessor, the second vessel to carry the name Christopher Pike was launched in 2332 at a time when exploration was once again becoming the main focus on Starfleet.

Following their maiden voyage, the U.S.S. Christopher Pike was due to begin an exploratory mission in the Beta Quadrant when the vessel mysteriously vanished for six weeks. An investigation was launched by the U.S.S. Enterprise-C but the events surrounding the disappearance were never fully revealed before, just as mysteriously, the vessel reappeared in the same location. Neither the crew nor the sensor logs could explain what had happened so, following a stay in spacedoc for inspection, the original mission was resumed.

Unfortunately the Christopher Pike-A was not to remain in service for many years longer than the original; in 2367 it was called to duty, like so many other Federation vessels, to fight in the defence against the Borg at Wolf 359. All hands were lost.
