Marine Fighter Squadron 86 (VMF-86) is a United Federation of Planets Marine Corps Valkyrie space superiority fighter squadron. The Squadron, known as the "Green Dragons" is based at Starbase 909, Kepler Station, and falls under the command of the Second Marine Aerospace Wing, which is based at Starbase 50. Their tail code is WW.
The majority of the squadron's pilots are Warrant Officers, rather than commissioned officers. This allows the UFP Marine Corps to place available personnel with a history of exemplary service into positions which require extensive knowledge, training, and experience with particular equipment. Within the Second Marine Aerospace Wing, Marine Warrant Officers can fill any officer billet other than Squadron Officer.
