Alpha Wave Inducers: Can be used to induce sleep in most humanoids, but is not to be used often, or indiscriminately. It does not replace natural sleep, but does permit surgical procedures to be carried out without pain to the patient.
Anabolic Protoplaser: Used to heal internal and external body damage without the need surgical procedures. They use small forcefields, phase-modulated lasers, and anabolic accelerators to quickly heal injuries without scarring. However, they cannot replace surgery for serious injuries. They activate the body's natural healing ability, causing instant regeneration to the treated area. In an emergency, if an injury is serious or deep, these can be used to seal the surface of the injury, while awaiting surgery, but do not heal the deeper tissue damage, which will still require surgical repair. You cannot use this for collateral damage, such as blood loss, of the original injury.
Bioregenerative Field: A Bioregenerative Field is an energy field used to accelerate cellular growth. This may be useful when combined with anabolic Protoplasers, or instead of such devices. It temporarily causes regeneration, but care must be taken to keep an infection from being multiplied by the field.
Cardiostimulator: A defibrillator that can also restart a heart. This device will not damage surface tissues.
Genetronic Replicator: An experimental medical device used to temporarily stimulate the DNA of an individual to grow whatever types of cells are needed by the patient.
Hypospray: A hand-held device used for subcutaneous and intravenous administration of carefully-controlled doses of medication. It allows medication to be given through the skin or clothing. It takes two seconds to remove and replace a medicine vial. The air cartridge is good for 100 injections, and takes two seconds to remove replace, as well.
Medical Tricorder: The standard medical tricorder is a multipurpose technical and scientific instrument.
It has the following capabilities:
Biosampler, Bioscanner, Chemscanner, Datalink, Environmental Analysis, Medscanner, Multiscanner, and Radscanner.
The Medical Tricorder can maintain and store vast amounts of data, then use it to help evaluate conditions on site. It also contains a medical database that provides diagnostic tools in the field, including tomographic and micrographic imaging.
There is an external hand-held sensing device containing over 100 sensors, and a small diagnosis wand fits into the top of the peripheral, occasionally used to provide close high-resolution scans. Together, these sensors allow the Medical Tricorder to make very detailed diagnosis on known species.
On unknown species, it is limited to telling if the life-form is sick or dying. A detailed analysis is not possible in such a situation. Effective range is about three yards.
