Operations

The Operations Department makes sure that the station functions. It is responsible for prioritising resource allocation among both departments and station functions. Operations is primarily responsible for the efficient distribution of the station's Electro-Plasma System (EPS), which powers all systems. It also serves as Quartermaster, requisitioning hardware and supplies, ordering large-scale repairs, and ensuring that the crew has the correct equipment to do their jobs. Personnel changes, such as transfers, reassignments and new crew, are administered by Operations.

Operations also manages repair and cleanup, in cooperation with Engineering. During emergency situations, the department itself provides Damage Control services.

The Chief Operations Officer is the head of the department, and responsible for the smooth operation of all station functions and daily crew life. In the command centre, she or he mans the Operations station, and is responsible for communications (such as hailing vessels), sensors, and monitoring internal systems.

The Assistant Operations serves as an alternate to the Chief Operations Officer and is responsible for the hands-on management of the station's systems and resources when the Chief Operations Officer is in the command centre. He or she may personally lead Damage Control teams as needed.

An Operations Crewman is a jack-of-all trades, cross-trained in engineering (damage control, EPS relay repair), administration (quartermastering, personnel management), and practical sciences (sensor or data analysis). Thus, an Operations Officer serves many functions on a station, serving to both coordinate overall functions as well as to fill gaps as needed. She or he also mans the Operations station in the command centre in the absence of the Chief or Assistant Operations Officers.
