Rank: Lieutenant Junior Grade
Position: Security Officer
Born: 19 May 2359
Height: 5' 9
Riley is, at best, very aloof and matter of fact. She doesn't like crowds, hates parties and in her off time will most likely be found in the Library reading or training on a holodeck. Tends to be sarcastic and vague with answers. She has an ambition to be the youngest director of Security the federation has yet to have... As time journeys on she might just reach that goal.
Riley's uncanny ability to find things out without asking many questions and her sometimes unorthodox way getting information served her well and she moved through the branch with ease as her reputation of getting things done no matter what opened doors and eventually promotions in her young career.
Psychological Profile: Somewhat dark, very seldom jokes and takes life and her job very seriously. Has been known to take extreme measures to finish an OP.
Needs to get out more, interact with those her age and lighten up.
Hobbies: Reading, Weapons, Decoding and learning new languages.
Previous Education: Starfleet Academy
Born in 2359 to Ensign Jason Keegan and Ensign Laurie James Keegan, Riley was weeks old before her mother would die during an away mission and her father would follow just under a year later, leaving the barely one year old to be raised by Jason's brother Charles.
Young Riley, grew into a very inquiring child, always wanting to know how things worked, why things happened and what caused them to. She would travel with her Aunt as they followed her Uncle Charles to his various assignments when allowed, which opened many doors to Riley's thirst for knowledge on different cultures, laws and species other than her own.
Her teen years were like many others- she tested limits, snuck off a time or two but overall was a level headed teen. More quiet and cautious than her counterparts, Riley didn't socialize well with her peers, more often than not with her nose in a textbook or trying (and succeeding occasionally) to hacking her way into various computers just to see if she could.
After graduating from high school she made the decision of joining Starfleet and was accepted into the San Fran campus, joining her cousin Grace Winslow who was on the fast track to becoming a doctor. Her time at the Academy was spent mostly studying, gaining good grades that would place her in the top percentage of her class, which led to her graduating with a bachelor in Linguistics and a Minor in Security Analysis in May of 2381.
The next part would be surprising to any if they knew about it. As her friends and cousin left the academy grounds to start their careers on ships and stations scattered throughout the universe, Riley remained behind and started her final year of training into the branch she had been recruited to during her plebe summer, the Intelligence Combined Course. In the months that followed graduation it would cross her mind multiple times as to just why she had said ‘yes’ to that officer on that fateful day on the quad. But like many things in ones life, as the days turned into weeks, then months, Riley found that she actually liked what she was doing and that she excelled in it.
After finishing the Combined course, she was assigned to Intel HQ as an analyst, decoding and encoding messages sent to and from the field as well as cracking through enemy systems. She was placed in a small cubicle and left alone for the most part of two years before getting reassigned to a field unit, where she would spend the next three years, doing what she would only say was ‘gathering intelligence for the greater good.’
She is currently in a complicated relationship with Tom Roseland, someone she bonded with during her time as acting Chief Security on the USS Britannia, while what they have is what many would call a relationship, Riley prefers not to label it. He is her closest friend and understands that she can’t tell him everything nor can she or will she always be there for important events.
