Sal'ahcite is a short woman with a glowing boyish figure. Her almost flawless skin is marred only by a splattering of freckles across her cheeks and nose, as well as a birthmark that will never, ever see the light of day.
Personality
Sal'ahcite is a fairly quiet young woman. She has grown up in very unorthodox community and is determined to change the pre-ordained path that has been set for her, by doing almost the complete opposite. While able to form fast friendships with other females, she has some issues making connections with men, again due to her upbringing. She has a positive outlook on life and the same determination one would find in any other engineer, to get the job done. She also likes to be helpful to others and hates to be a burden on anyone. She's quick to blush though and often finds herself beet red in a lot of social situations or after one of her many klutzy incidents.

History
Everyone in the community on Polorii IV helps to rear the children. While Sal'ahcite has no idea who her biological father might be, she has many mothers who call her daughter.
Sal'ahcite Chayste was born on the multi-species colony world of Polorii IV. While her biological father is unknown to her, she and several other children, were raised by five women along with the wider community. To her everyone was family. Sal'ahcite, or Sal to her siblings, grew up with her brothers and sisters until they reached their rite of puberty. At this point the children were segregated. The boys learning to become men in areas of maths, sciences and industry, while the girls followed more genteel pursuits like the arts, languages and domesticity.
At the age of 18, disaster struck. Polorii IV had been experiencing mild earthquakes for decades, but nothing prepared the colonists for the massive quake that destroyed most of their settlement. Help arrived in the form of a Starfleet vessel, however the colonists were divided. Some decided to evacuate, while the rest remained to rebuild their society. Sensing something more to life, Sal'ahcite decided to leave. It wasn't that she had been completely cut off from the reality of the universe outside, she had just been brought up with different way of life. As soon as she was on that starship however, she vowed to experience as much as the universe had to offer, as long as it didn't infringe too greatly on her beliefs, which she still clung to.
She quickly worked out that the fastest way to getting out into the universe would be to join Starfleet. She knew she was an intelligent girl so applied to Starfleet Academy. Her application was denied due to her lack of knowledge in maths and sciences. This may have stopped others in their tracks and helped push them back to the relative safety of home, but not Sal'ahcite. She was determined. The best way Sal'ahcite decided, to overcome this obstacle, was to start at the bottom and work her way up. So she enlisted. As an engineer. Just to prove that she could.
After her initial six months training as an enlisted recruit Sal'ahcite was assigned to Kepler Station. Due to a romantic entanglement with her Chief she was moved to the Operations department and then later transferred to the support vessel USS Tribulation as an Engineer's Mate.
