Station History
Regula Class
The Regula 1 is a canon starbase made famous by its starring role in TWOK. Designed as a small, flexible platform for long-duration scientific missions in isolated locations, makes it an excellent choice for the Delta Quadrant. It’s tried and true, trusted and familiar to fans – not to mention quick and easy to build due to it's modular design. It also allows for a flexibility of use although it's primary focus is Science and a support base to other vessels. The stations originally had very little in the way of armament, although adequate shielding could protect the station from naturally occurring background radiation that might affect sensitive experiments. Internal shielding was also incorporated to ensure safety from anything hazardous that needed to be stored or fiddled with on board.
Smaller starbases allow for a grittier feel to storylines and interactions not usually found on say an Immense class (well realistically anyway), especially one so far away from home. It helps to forge quick relationships of every type: love, friendship, rivalry, hate-ships, etc. Everyone will know everybody’s business and nothing will be sacred – not even the bathroom!
Regula's have been in use throughout the Federation ever since and although many have been retired in favour of larger bases, 12 are still currently in service.
Kepler Station
Kepler Station was originally built and located near Bellatrix in 2325. It was named after the German mathematician, astronomer and astrologer, Johannes Kepler. Most famous for his eponymous laws of planetary motion.
In the beginning of 2384 it was decided that Kepler Station could be salvaged. The station was dismantled and moved piece by painstaking piece to the Raeyan Sector of the Beta Quadrant. From there it was sent through the Union Gateway and into the Delta Quadrant where it was reassembled. This process took almost a year to complete and early 2385 it was finally deemed complete and is ready to be used for it's intended purpose, after a quick upgrade to the station's defenses.
The purpose of Kepler Station in the Delta Quadrant is to act as a waypoint for all scientific discoveries made by the vessels of Task Force 38. This station is where every artefact, species sample and doo-dad will be studied and catelogued before being shipped back to the Beta Quadrant for further study. Kepler will also act as a resupply station and its many science teams will be conducting their own science experiments in this strange and new area of space.
