Position: Intelligence Chief, Chief of the Boat
Player: Shane

Appearance

Species: Human
Gender: Male
Born: 2356 (30yo)
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Dark Brown
Height: 6'6"

Thomas is very tall, with a slender build and, while not powerful for his size, is certainly strong on an absolute scale. Scars are present, but are mostly hidden under his uniform. Hair is in a widows peak coming to a rounded point and is about medium length.

Personality

Thomas tends to be very professional when he is on duty, but while off duty he tends to be largely positive, although a bit sarcastic and snarky at times. In truth, he is a fun loving person so long as he isn't asked too much about his experiences in a Borg encounter, at which point he can turn dark and aggressive.

History

Thomas was born to Clarence and Judith Stuarde, the first of three children. Clarence had been employed as a civilian expert in interstellar law attached to Federation Headquarters in Paris while his mother dedicated herself to the raising of their children in the family home just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio. Thomas was influenced early by his uncle Sean, a veteran of the Dominion War, who often spoke of the the adventures during his time, the vast variety of aliens and people. The excitement of these stories inspired Thomas to join as an enlisted crewman at the age of 20 in 2376, much to the dismay of his father. Clarence had maintained a position of opposition to any of his children joining what he saw as a military organization.

Thomas' first assignment was as a security officer on board the USS Lakota patrolling the Cardassian border for pirates and smugglers. For the first two years of his career, the assignment was uneventful, with various away team assignments leading to combat experience against rouge elements. In 2381, however, a freak encounter with a Borg cube brought the Lakota into direct combat. Over the next few hours, Thomas was injured twice, both times while repulsing Borg boarding parties. In the first instance, Thomas suffered a series of small injuries which were quickly treated by the medic in the squad. The second injury has proven to be a fomative event in his life. Thomas' security team was caught in the middle of a group of drones boarding the ship, leading to the assimilation of most of the team. Thomas was the target of a similar attack in which he was partially assimilated before a well timed phaser shot killed the drone responsible.

Thomas on a rare visit home

The next year of Thomas' life was spent in infirmaries across the Federation, being treated for with nanite therapy to remove the effects of the incomplete assimilation and post-traumatic stress. By the middle of 2382, Thomas was given a clean bill of health both physically and psychologically. No evidence of Borg technology has appeared in subsequent tests. Under medical and psychological recommendation, Thomas is to continue to see counselors and therapists on any posting he is assigned.

The next assignment placed Thomas aboard the Norway-class USS Dresden, continuing the previous mission of pirate and smuggling patrol. The assignment was cut short, however, by Starfleet Intelligence, which had been keeping Thomas under surveillance for to ensure his mental and emotional stability after his traumatic experience. He was brought into the organization and promoted to the rank of Petty Officer First Class in 2383.

The following information is classified:

Thomas was trained as an analyst, processing and advising on information coming in regarding pirate operations and the Romulan Star Empire. Soon, he was reassigned to full time analysis of the Romulans, as he seemed to have an intuitive understanding of the workings of the system of government they followed and was able to understand the espionage inherent to them. Despite this apparent talent, superiors still note that his experience in the field is almost entirely on the theoretical level, CPO Stuarde still has little field experience.

After years working as an analyst in San Francisco, Thomas has been evaluated as a superior officer in his field and judged by a committee of superior enlisted officers to be worthy of promotion and reassigned to establish a forward analyst office to cover the incoming intelligence from Romulan territory aboard the USS Merrimack as his first field assignment.

-Change of orders-

CPO Stuarde is to be assigned to Kepler station citing its new position on the edge of Romulan space.
