Violet is of Asian and European decent and has certain features reminiscent of both. Health and fitness wise she is in good shape from keeping up a regular sport schedule and active training regime. She also has a small tattoo somewhere on her body but is protective of the secret to its location.
In recent weeks Violet has almost never been seen without both the delicately crafted ring which Ayam made specially for her and one half of the Aisha par'Mach charm necklace which symbolises their commitment to each other.
Violet is fun loving and friendly but is quick to let someone know when they’re on her bad side. She is highly active and likes to get in a game of volleyball as often as possible. Because of her friendly demeanor Violet never seems to have much trouble meeting people and making new friends. Her weird sense of humour may prove difficult for some people to get used to though.
Quite possibly the stereotypical child of Starfleet; her mother left when she was barely one year-old, leaving a heart broken Harrison to raise her while juggling a career in Starfleet. Because of this she grew up spending more time on Starbases and starships than on Earth. The only time Violet actually spent on the distant mud ball she was born on was while staying with her Aunty Jade and Uncle Jack in Brooklyn, either on solo trips during school breaks or when Harry was on leave. Those times were a wonderful experience for the only child as it was the type of family life her father couldn’t offer, despite how hard he worked to keep her happy and healthy.
On her tenth birthday, while Harrison was stationed on Starbase 24, he decided his daughter needed more company than the occasional children visiting from docked vessels and brought her a Degosan Twin-tailed Gecko; similar to the Earth gecko aside from the purplish-blue scales and articulated tails for swinging through the dense native forests of Degosa. While for some young girls a lizard might seem like an odd gift, Violet instantly fell in love with the small creature which she named Indigo due to its colour and the play on words with her own name.
Academically Violet applied herself well to most subjects but lacked the direction needed to really excel. In her sporting endeavours though she didn’t suffer from that issue; becoming involved in various shipboard holodeck teams and, whenever her father served on Starbases, planet wide competitions. Volleyball is her primary passion but Violet is keen to try anything.
As she got older, life on board Starfleet vessels started to wear thin. Although they spent many years on the U.S.S. Bismarck, they still moved around quite a bit which often made things difficult between father and daughter. Barely two years ago things between Harrison and Violet were so tough that the solo father decided his best option was to send Violet to live with her Aunty and Uncle for at least a semester in the hopes she would improve by being away from some of the bad influences. While she didn’t think she was half as bad as other teenagers on the ship, Harrison wasn’t happy about the boy she was dating. The son of a diplomat, he was working his way up the delinquent career path at full impulse and taking Violet along for the ride. With little choice in the matter Violet took the first available transport back to Brooklyn, on Earth, and attended school with her cousin JJ. While living on Earth with her father's family, Violet worked at her uncle's restaurant and occasionally helped her cousin Samantha with various jobs.
That did the trick and Violet settled down somewhat, even offering to get a job in the lounge of her father’s next posting to keep from falling into old habits. Unfortunately for Harrison SB-909 wasn't exactly the safe place he wanted for his daughter. Shortly after he left on the U.S.S. Endeavour, and his daughter began working at the Treehouse Lounge, Kepler Station was involved in an incident that caused it to be mysteriously relocate from the Delta Quadrant to the Beta Quadrant. Separated from her father by almost 200 Light-years was hardly what Violet had signed up for but thanks to the Executive Officer, Lt. Commander Isis Rae, who had been keeping an eye on the teenager, Violet decided to remain onboard and await the return of her father. She moved from her single quarters to the XO's within the Arboretum, along with her best friend Indigo, and has since developed a strong bond with the older woman much like that of a mother and daughter. Although she tends to assure Isis that it's more of an older sister type of thing to avoid implying the Trill is old. Given the similarities in their lives, such as the fact that both of them were abandoned by their mothers, it's no wonder that the bond between them has grown to a point where Violet considers Isis part of her family.
The decision to stay could be considered a mistake given the fact that shortly after Kepler was boarded by a group of Bajoran militants, led by a man named Jedit, and Violet was taken prisoner when they came in search of the Executive Officer. During that time she was forced to witness the murder of the Commanding Officer's Yeoman and then seriously beaten by the leader of the militant group, in order to make Commodore Blake cooperate with their demands. Although she had never considered herself a brave person, especially compared to those around her, Violet did manage to stand up to Jedit for quite a while. This bought the crew time to discover what was happening and plan a counter attack however Blake finally conceded to Jedit's demands and unlocked the command codes in order to spare Violet from being spaced. Feeling responsible for allowing the terrorists to get what they wanted it took some time for the teenager to bounce back to her normal self; even finding the smallest noise frightening.
Since then Violet had been coasting along, somewhat unsure of where she wanted to head, until a suggestion from Lieutenant Maya Takagi sparked an interest in pursuing a career in counselling. Taking her life in hand she quit her job at the Treehouse Lounge and convinced Lieutenant JG Hideyoshi Shimura to accept her as his Personal Assistant so that she could learn from him while going through the appropriate training.
We have recently learnt that Violet's middle name is Akiko, which means 'Autumn Child' in Japanese and was also her paternal Grandmother's name.
Her burgeoning relationship with Ayam Whatt saw Violet mature a lot in a relatively short time and allowed her the chance to finally put a number of demons from her past to rest. Although those around her have been slow to see that her feelings are real, she and Ayam are confident in their feelings.
