Andrea (known as AJ to her friends) has a natural, earthly beauty. Though she does not play on this, she does work out regularly to keep herself in shape and this shows. From spending a lot of time on Vulcan in the last three years, her skin has developed a natural, sunkissed glow.

Like most people, Andrea's moods can vary. Generally, however, she has a positive outlook even when things look far from perfect.

Andrea can seem quiet and unassuming, in particular because she will generally speak up only when there is something that needs to be said. This can sometimes create the impression that she can be easily swayed or ordered around but if it something she feels is fundamentally wrong or flawed, she will not hesitate to speak her mind.

When around people she will talk to them, yet she rarely reveals anything about herself as she is fundamentally a private person.

Andrea was born in the outskirts of Dublin and was the youngest of six children. Her mother was a musician who frequently toured as part of an orchestra, while her father was an accomplished scientist predominantly based at Trinity College, Dublin.

Growing up, the main parental figure in all of the Carter children's lives was Elle Carter. Their paternal grandmother did all that she could to create a nurturing environment and to encourage each of them to be everything they could be.

Even at an early age, Andrea's affinity for the sciences was clear to see. She excelled in her studies, benifiting from an eidetic memory which gave her an undeniable advantage over her fellow students. After school she applied to Starfleet Academy, an attempt to forge her independence.

Although accepted, an opportunity to study at Cambridge tempted her into another life. Once again, the youngest Carter child excelled and her fears of living in her father's shadow were quickly dispelled.

Since then she has continued her studies, joining Cambridge's renowned research team and building a strong reputation. This led her to a prominent role working as a liasion between the prominant Earth university and the Vulcan Science Academy, and this ultimately led her to working with Starfleet in an advisory capacity. Earning a reputation in Starfleet, she was then asked to relocate to Kepler and without hesitation the young scientist agreed.

Andrea likes nothing better than curling up with a glass of wine and an old fashioned (read paper!) book. She enjoys playing the piano and working out, and she visits the gym almost daily.
